EBEC Copenhagen is one of the local rounds of European BEST Engineering Competition and will take place at the Technical University of Denmark on 27 and 28 February 2012.
Yesterday, 8 teams of motivated students gathered in the DTU library and worked all afternoon to solve the challenge from Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen (MDCC), as part of the Team Design category of EBEC Copenhagen. Their task was to design a natural user-interface calculator, the Kinect Sensor from Microsoft being the input device for the interaction.
All teams did very well, considering the limited time they had (4 hours) and had impressive presentations, making it hard to decide the winners. Finally, the jury panel from MDCC decided that Innovation Team deserves to win. Therefore, Mads, David, Louise and Mikkel each received a Microsoft Xbox 360 + Kinect bundle and awesome t-shirts (saying <<Code is Poetry>>). Plus, we will pay for their tickets to Stockholm, where they will represent DTU in the next phase of the competition (EBEC Nordic). Fingers crossed for them 🙂
The day ended with a delicious buffet dinner and champagne toasts. We want to thank MDCC and all the participants for making the day so awesome! 🙂
Today, other 8 teams of DTU students will work on a case study from Maersk. We wish them plenty of good luck! For real time updates and photos during the competition, check out our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
